Jesus didn't come and die just for those of us in America and Western Europe. He died for the sins of the world. In America and most of Europe, people have access to the Gospel if they own a radio, TV or have Internet access. Most have access to at least a Bible in their own language.
Dr. Steve's and Linda's time with Operation Mobilization burned a passion in them for those untold millions of people in the world who have not only never heard the Gospel even once, but who don't even have any Scriptures available in their own language. Throughout the Third World, millions are born, live and die without having access to the Gospel even one time. So many have never even MET a Christian!
Traveling around the world emphasizes the blessings and freedoms that we enjoy in the Western World. Even though the Western World is far from "Christianized," it IS evangelized (meaning that people in Western Europe and the Americas have ACCESS to the Gospel, if they want it.) Much of the prosperity enjoyed by the evangelized countries is a result of industriousness and the Lord's blessings in generations past, when our forbears were responsive to the Gospel. No such history is found in the developing and third world countries, and the poverty and spiritual bondage is evident.
It's not only a material lack of freedom that is obvious where the Gospel isn't given free course, but it's the spiritual poverty that compels us to reach out with the power of the Lord Jesus Christ. Millions are searching for miracles and power in life - and, having no Gospel witness, they turn to the forces of darkness and end up enslaved by demonic powers.
But, thank God, He is still saving people and setting them free! Wherever the Gospel of Jesus Christ is preached, faith springs forth in the heart of the people and souls get saved! Jesus spent His earthly ministry going down the highways and byways setting people free from the oppression of false religions and the curses of the devil. And, He says, "as the Father hath sent Me, so send I you!"
Roughly 2,000 years have passed since Jesus gave the Church the Great Commission, to go into all the world and preach the gospel. You can find Coca Cola in almost all the world. You can find McDonald's hamburgers in nearly all the world. You can find rock, rap and even country music in all the world, but millions have never heard the name of Jesus! All this, while the average Western Christian has more Bibles than he or she will ever read, more Christian books and music than will ever be used!
