We
are so proud of Doug. He has been a member of The Worship Center since
1990. When Doug first came to us, he had a zeal in his heart for
reaching the lost, particularly children and others who had never
heard the Gospel. He immediately became active in the Children's
Church and other Kids' Ministries here.
Doug also became one of our main Ushers. He proved himself faithful in
several departments of the church. What is so impressive is that
Doug is legally blind! He doesn't drive, ride a bike or have any
other convenient modes of transportation. When he couldn't get a ride
to the church, he would walk - even in the snow and rain!
Doug's
world vision came into focus as he learned more and more about the
numbers of unreached people groups still remaining. He began to pray
about what he could do to help people in other countries hear the
Gospel of Jesus Christ. He began taking his summers and going on
missions outreach trips.
During these trips, the Lord
opened Doug's eyes to what he should be doing with his life. Doug
determined that the Lord would have him finish college and go into
ministry fulltime. Instead of choosing a college or university that
had special programs for the blind, Doug wanted to go to a school that
had a special emphasis on world missions. About that time, Doug
suffered other personal crises, and on top of that, his voicebox "went
out," leaving him unable to speak above a whisper. For most people,
assaults on this many levels would've caused them to draw back -
especially from a call to overseas missions and ministry!
Overcoming not only his physical limitations, but enduring
faithfully through other personal life challenges, Doug went to Asbury
College in Wilmore, KY for the beginning of his Christian ministry
education and later he transferred to Southern Methodist College in
Orangeburg, SC. to finish his training for missions.
Doug
is now serving the Lord fulltime in the UK and has been for the past
several years. To see what he's been up to and what the Lord has been

In 2007, Doug Ambrose became a
Reverend and married his sweetheart, Sue. Sue and her two kids now

"Whenever
we point out a personal flaw, weakness or a reason why we feel we're
exempt from the call of God, we find someone else with that same flaw,
that same weakness or that same reason who is actively pursuing total
discipleship and all-out obedience. Doug Ambrose is one of those
heroic examples. What a challenge!" - Dr. Steve Davis
