Dr. Steve
Davis
Dr.
Steve Davis, our Senior Pastor, has a passion
and commitment to reaching and helping every person possible, regardless
of background and life situation, to achieve God's goal and purpose for
his or her life. Having a heart for those who are hurting and in need
caused Dr. Steve to begin his ministry in the streets during the 70's,
and after graduating from Asbury in KY, to return to his home state of
Maryland to minister to those in prison and jails, as a Chaplain for the
Maryland Department of Corrections.
Dr.
Steve married Linda Carter, his college sweetheart in 1977, and in 1979,
they responded to God's calling them to be involved in world evangelism,
so they joined Operation Mobilization (OM), working with OM founder and
International Coordinator George Verwer. Steve and Linda ministered on
the International Coordinating Team with OM in London England for four
years. During this time, Dr. Steve preached several times a week in
universities, colleges, churches, and in the open air in central London.
Being a graphic artist and designer, he used his talents to produce
illustrated Gospel literature for the Bible Society of India, and other
publishers in the middle east and Asia.
When
Dr. Steve and Linda returned to the US, the Lord opened the door for
them to lead a small home Bible study in Waldorf, MD. Their goal at the
time was not to plant a church, but to help people who had gotten hurt
in other churches to receive the healing they needed and then to return
to a local church and be involved. But, out of that Bible study grew a
caring and helping group of people who are compassionate and filled with
zeal for the Lord.

Over the years, Dr. Steve has demonstrated a tireless zeal for getting
the
Gospel
to every person possible. From the early days, he has demonstrated the
heart of a shepherd who is willing to lay down his life for the sheep.
For the first several years of his ministry at The Worship Center, he
and Linda financed the work as heavily as possible, using his skills as
a custom car painter, pinstriper and airbrush artist. Later he worked as
Advertising Sales Manager for Selling Power Magazine in
Fredericksburg, VA, where he managed advertising sales for the
Midwestern states. After nearly three years at Selling Power Magazine,
the work of the ministry required so much time and prayer and energy
that he had to leave "tent making" and enter ministry full time.
Dr. Steve sets the example for "redeeming the time," in his personal and
professional life as well as in his spiritual life. He has earned his
Masters degree in Divinity, and a Ph. D. in Psychology. He is an
Ordained Elder in the
Southern
Methodist Church, and law enforcement Chaplain for the Charles County
Sheriff's Department. Dr. Davis is also an FBI Chaplain,
assigned to FBI Headquarters in Washington DC, and serving at the FBI
Academy in Quantico, VA. During the crises following the September 11
attacks, Dr. Steve served at the Pentagon crash site, bringing spiritual
and emotional support to rescue workers.
From
1999 through 2002, Dr. Steve and Linda initiated a nationwide ministry
outreach with the daily TV program, Leave it to Jesus, aired nationwide
on The Dream Network, on several cable and satellite systems. During
these years of producing six TV shows a week, Dr. Steve and Linda
learned to draw on the strength and energy of the Holy Spirit to bring
the positive message of faith and salvation to millions of households
throughout the United States.
Since the September 11 attacks on the United States, the Worship Center
and Dr. Steve and Linda are focused more than ever on meeting the needs
of those in law enforcement, and rescue workers, as well to their local
community, providing ministries and services to as many people as
possible, and raising up and training leaders to carry out God's great
commission in these intense days!
