Jesus didn’t come and die just for those of us in America and Western Europe. He died for the sins of the world. In America and most of Europe, people have access to the Gospel if they own a radio, TV or have Internet access. Most have access to at least a Bible in their own language.
Dr. Steve’s and Linda’s time with Operation Mobilization burned a passion in them for those untold millions of people in the world who have not only never heard the Gospel even once, but who don’t even have any Scriptures available in their own language. Throughout the Third World, millions are born, live and die without having access to the Gospel even one time. So many have never even MET a Christian!
Traveling around the world emphasizes the blessings and freedoms that we enjoy in the Western World. Even though the Western World is far from “Christianized,” it IS evangelized (meaning that people in Western Europe and the Americas have ACCESS to the Gospel, if they want it.) Much of the prosperity enjoyed by the evangelized countries is a result of industriousness and the Lord’s blessings in generations past, when our forbears were responsive to the Gospel. No such history is found in the developing and third world countries, and the poverty and spiritual bondage is evident.
It’s not only a material lack of freedom that is obvious where the Gospel isn’t given free course, but it’s the spiritual poverty that compels us to reach out with the power of the Lord Jesus Christ. Millions are searching for miracles and power in life – and, having no Gospel witness, they turn to the forces of darkness and end up enslaved by demonic powers.
But, thank God, He is still saving people and setting them free! Wherever the Gospel of Jesus Christ is preached, faith springs forth in the heart of the people and souls get saved! Jesus spent His earthly ministry going down the highways and byways setting people free from the oppression of false religions and the curses of the devil. And, He says, “as the Father hath sent Me, so send I you!”
Roughly 2,000 years have passed since Jesus gave the Church the Great Commission, to go into all the world and preach the gospel. You can find Coca Cola in almost all the world. You can find McDonald’s hamburgers in nearly all the world. You can find rock, rap and even country music in all the world, but millions have never heard the name of Jesus! All this, while the average Western Christian has more Bibles than he or she will ever read, more Christian books and music than will ever be used!

Worship Center Supported Missionaries
United Kingdom – Rev. Doug Ambrose
We are so proud of Doug. He has been a member of The Worship Center since 1990. When Doug first came to us, he had a zeal in his heart for reaching the lost, particularly children and others who had never heard the Gospel. He immediately became active in the Children’s Church and other Kids’ Ministries here.
Doug also became one of our main Ushers. He proved himself faithful in several departments of the church. What is so impressive is that Doug is legally blind! He doesn’t drive, ride a bike or have any other convenient modes of transportation. When he couldn’t get a ride to the church, he would walk – even in the snow and rain!
Doug’s world vision came into focus as he learned more and more about the numbers of unreached people groups still remaining. He began to pray about what he could do to help people in other countries hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He began taking his summers and going on missions outreach trips.
During these trips, the Lord opened Doug’s eyes to what he should be doing with his life. Doug determined that the Lord would have him finish college and go into ministry fulltime. Instead of choosing a college or university that had special programs for the blind, Doug wanted to go to a school that had a special emphasis on world missions. About that time, Doug suffered other personal crises, and on top of that, his voicebox “went out,” leaving him unable to speak above a whisper. For most people, assaults on this many levels would’ve caused them to draw back – especially from a call to overseas missions and ministry!
Overcoming not only his physical limitations, but enduring faithfully through other personal life challenges, Doug went to Asbury College in Wilmore, KY for the beginning of his Christian ministry education and later he transferred to Southern Methodist College in Orangeburg, SC. to finish his training for missions. The Southern Methodist Church has ordained, commissioned and also supports Doug.
Doug Ambrose and his lovely family Doug is now serving the Lord fulltime in the UK through Operation Mobilization and has been for the past several years. To see what he’s been up to and what the Lord has been doing through him, check out the monthly updates on his website, DougAmbrose.com.
In 2007, Doug Ambrose became a Reverend and married his sweetheart, Sue. Sue and her two kids now join Doug in his work in the UK for the Lord.
“Whenever we point out a personal flaw, weakness or a reason why we feel we’re exempt from the call of God, we find someone else with that same flaw, that same weakness or that same reason who is actively pursuing total discipleship and all-out obedience. Doug Ambrose is one of those heroic examples. What a challenge!” – Dr. Steve Davis
India – Ashok Kumar
Pastor Kota Ashok Kumor is a full time pastor in Munganda, Andra Pradesh India. He has a wife, Nalini, and two sons, Joshi and Phelps. They are doing the Lord’s work – distributing Christian tracts and books door to door, visiting shut-ins, preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and praying with those who desperately need it.
They run an orphans and widows home – Jesus Orphans’ Home. It is a non-profit social service organization. They provide shelter, food, clothes and education, including spiritual education.
This home is running with only small contributions from some kind hearted people. The donations are not sufficient to feed and care for the orphans and widows .
There 30 orphans and 25 poor widows currently. Their accommodations are meager, though their hearts are big. Ashok and his family all stay in one room, sleeping on the floor on mats. The widows all stay together in another room and the children in the another. They live in tight quarters, but they’re giving all they can to help reach people for the Lord.
Their main aim is to save souls for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. They also have a team of rural evangelists – 75 pastors, evangelists and gospel workers. They are unsupported and very poor. Please pray for them. They are assisting Ashok in the work here, along with his wife and the poor widows.
They lead fellowship meetings in the streets, gospel meetings in the delta areas, riverside areas, slum areas and in the canals. There are so many people who are Hindu, Muslim and other religions that have attended their meetings and have gotten to hear the Word of God, by His leading! The workers are daily reaching out to win souls for the Lord. Please pray for their open hearts.
“For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.” Matthew 25: 35-36
