See, what you say is based on what’s in your heart or what you let on the inside of you. When you let the Word in, your words will be the God kind of words and you will get the God kind of responses to your words. How can I say this? God says in Isaiah 57:19 that HE creates the FRUIT of the lips. When you speak Gods word, He creates fruit of your lips substance of the things you’re speaking and that’s why speaking the substance of the things you’re hoping for. That’s why people who are always speaking about what they DON’T want and what they’re afraid of and what’s wrong with everything seem to always have problems on top of problems.
They’re speaking death and problems and getting the fruit of it in their lives. Maybe you weren’t aware of this, but even a little bit of the word of God in your mouth has the power to change the course of your life even though you might be driven and tossed by fierce winds of opposition. When you begin by faith to speak the Word to your situation, Jesus will calm your storm and you’ll get to that place in life that He has chosen for you.
See, your tongue is like a rudder and it directs where you go in life and that’s what James 3 tells us. It sets the direction for you and will take you wherever you want to go. A lot of people run around in life because they think on, or meditate on and then as a result the kinds of things they say. You have to BRIDLE or HARNESS your tongue, keep your hand on the ship’s wheel to control where you go in life and how the voyage will be for you.
1 Peter says, that if you want to LOVE life and see GOOD days the you have to REFRAIN (STOP) and control your tongue so that you don’t speak bad things. The carnally minded or sense ruled person is what the Bible calls double minded. They speak life and blessing sometimes and then turn right around and uproot that blessing by speaking negativity, fear, uncertainty, ill health and other hurtful things into their lives that don’t align with the blessings that God has in store for you and God says it shouldn’t be like that.
God gives us a choice of what we get with our mouth and we can have either blessing by words of our mouths and that’s why in Deut. 30:19 it says, that He sets before us life and death, blessing and cursing. Then He says, “Choose life that you may live!” Choose life and blessings! Rather than pining for the good old days, you’ll begin to start changing the days you have and you’ll be able to use your tongue like the rudder of a ship so it can take you where you WANT to be in life instead of where you DON’T want to be.
